Nathan UPDATE BLOG
1-22-2011 Out to visit Crystal, Dave, Tobias and Lily. Nathan adjusted well and played trucks and then had a big treat. He got to play a real drum set. Tobias even gave him a pair of drum sticks!
1-14-2011 Nathan has follow-up with Dr. Eagan. All looks well with the surgery even though his stiches came out and we have to use band-aids to keep it sealed.
1-10-2011 Nathan had surgery to remove his port access. He did well during the wait but cried on the way in. He was cranky later and we tried to keep distracted as much as possible.
1-2-2011 Went to dinner at La Pinata with Sue and Tobey. Everything was really good. Nathan was a ham and then threw a tantrum. He recovered and we returned to dinner. A very nice evening with family.

11-11-10 Masks and smocks in the room due to antibiotics knocking out his intestine flora.
11-7-10 Time is flying by I am trying to keep up with contact. We have had a little setback with Nathan. He developed a little infection. We took him in to Phoenix Childrens for treatment. He had another MRI and is recieving IV antibiotics. He is responding well. Pray for no other issues.

Everybody Wins is Fighting Against Childrens Cancer
When a great positive effort is directed toward a lofty goal it can be accomplished. The proof is the near elimination, or treatment of some crippling and deadly diseases. All kinds of people feel an inner sense of compassion for childrens suffering because everyone can relate to childhood and the innocence in that time of life. It's that aspect of life we all must cherish and defend. Choose to make a positive effort for all the children who cannot for themselves. Anyones child can be affected by cancer. Their lives are in our hands. Thank You.

> Hello to all our family and friends,
>
> It has been 3 weeks and 2 days since Nathan's surgery, which went extremely well. It has been 1 week and 2 days since Nathan completed his radiation therapy treatments. He came home from the hospital 8 days ago. We are all so grateful for all your prayers and well wishes. Dana took him to a Dr. visit this afternoon and Dr. was very pleased with his progress. The incisions are healing nicely, still quite red but so far no problems.
>
> They came to visit me after the Dr. visit. Nathan is walking very well. Even a little running, definitely climbing and ready to play. We added a playground to our backyard for him and as these pictures attest, he was up for it.
>
> Keep the encouraging thoughts for his complete recovery.

10-15-10 Nathans not too hungry or thirsty. But were encouraging him to eat and drink and stay distracted.
Grandma (Bette) wrote
He is now in St. Josephs Hospital for the twice daily radiation treatments for 7
days. The first was Wednesday 10/13/10. He was happy and laughing before his
treatment but I understand he woke up cranky after. I don't understand why... He
is moving around and rolling and crawling in his hospital bed. It's all Jeff and
Dana and the childcare volunteers can do to keep him entertained and keep him
from being bored. There is still a lot of pain going on, and will be for some
time to come. He is expected to be released from the hospital and begin
Physical Therapy soon after he finishes these treatments.
Thank You and Bless You All,

10-11-10 Nathan transported to St. Josephs to begin radiation therapy. He says he wants to "go" meaning home.
10-13-10 Nathan a bit cranky today had his first treatment. he will have two treatments for seven days. Then we begin P.T.
10-8-10 Nathan is recovering in ICU. Round the clock to keep him comfortable. He has an epidural and gets IV meds when he is really agitated. He seems to be accepting his situation right now. I can tell he wants to leave.
10-06-10 Long night, Nathan had to get an NG tube (tube in the nose) to get the medication and had some vomiting early in the morning. Nathan in for surgery around 8:30 AM. Close family and friends waited anxiously for word from the operating room. The tumor is removed by 11:30 but needs to be closed, and that will take another 3 hours.
10-05-10 Happy Birthday Nathan!!! We arrived at Phoenix Childrens Hospital to get ready for Nathans surgery. Bowel care is on the agenda. He had a really nice cake last night. Nothing to eat tonight.
